I love this! Its so funny, I was going to post in my blog about struggling over the past month. I still will, but it wont be as cool as yours :) Thanks for this!!
This just might be my favorite blog post of the week! you totally hit the nail on the head! I have been struggling myself and its hard not to beat ourselves up. This post actually helped me see through my own head and issues. Thanks for sharing!
Maggie -- my vlogs are always me going "OMG I SOUND LIKE THAT???" And then re-recording it. Though my first blog I ended up using the first take because it was the most sincere.
Jen -- It's easy to beat ourselves up because that's what we've been trained to do all our lives -- to suffer failure instead of using it to learn and grow. I'm glad you're seeing straight now. We've got this, right?
TOTALLY love this post, Robby!! I had a less than stellar week myself. For once, I've decided not to let myself be plagued with guilt over it. I consciously made the food choices this week, and what's done is done. I'm just moving on from here.
BTW, I think that last note card is my fave, too. :)
You know, hon, this post just kicked me back on the wagon :-p
I lost like 23 kilos through and after the pregnancy (btw, did you ever get Merel's birthday card?), was at 78, and now I'm back at 83.8. No go.
So I started again on Friday, and this morning it was like 82.0. Going strong now, thanks to you. You really made me smile, and realize we all fall off the wagon over and again. And climb back up.
Gudrun: I did get Merel's birthday card and now I'm worried that you didn't get the card I sent in response (and you should be getting a post card from Mexico). Hrmph. I should just throw everything in a fedex just so i can track it.
As for the pregnancy weight... give your body a bit of time to regain its equilibrium, and then go for it. Running around after three kids is hard on any routine (diet or exercise) and throw work on top of it... Suffice it to say you have a hard road ahead of you. But it's not impossible and you're not alone.
Boo hiss re the mail. It was super cute. I'll have to look to see if I can find the card once again. I'll take pictures of it before I send :P
And regarding stop/go easy -- that's a big spectrum there. Big enough to include a bit of forgiveness if you indulge within moderation and truly enjoy it.
I'm 39 and have been overweight or obese since I was 8 years old. This is my journey to change not only my body but my relationship with it. And who knows, I might even meet some people on their own journeys along the way. To contact me privately, email me at FatGirlvsWorld@gmail.com

ReplyTwo things: (1) I love you and (2) prepare to hear from my lawyers.
ReplyI tried doing a vlog, but nothing I said sounded right...so, I tried to write note/cue cards... and ended up with this.
Reply@jack -- you sure about that? I work at an international law firm, yanno. Big guns (bigger than mine own...) (and love you too :P)
This made me smile. The last picture is my favorite. Just keep swimming and all will be ok.
ReplyExcellent! Enough said!
ReplyThis was great! I know what you mean about trying to do a vlog...I always end up sounding like a tool.
ReplyKeep on truckin'...you can do it. Seems there's a few of us struggling right now.

I think this means that everyone needs to make their own "Just Keep Swimming" card.
ReplyLove this post! Very timely for me and I may just copy it :)
ReplyKaren -- you've got this.
ReplyAnd of course, copy it.
I surely can't copy you and open a hospital, regardless of how noble that is!

Euhm... Never got any card for Merel whatsoever, alas. The mail here is so incompetent, you wouldn't believe it.
ReplyAnd for that equilibrium: I just have to stop eating chocolate and sweets, and go easy on the bread. And that's so hard...
