I've been seeing butterflies EVERYWHERE.
Every single day for the past 2 weeks I've seen at least 1 butterfly a day. I haven't had to seek them out, as they often fly right in front of me, around me, or divebomb me.

So thanks to these little flying pieces of art my mind has been preoccupied with thoughts of change, of transformation, of rebirth. I know there's a bigger picture somewhere in all of this. I just can't see it yet.
Makes me wonder if the caterpillar can see the big picture. Does it know that it will soon cocoon up and then be transformed into something we silly humans consider beautiful? Maybe that's part of change and transformation - not knowing the outcome but being all that a caterpillar can be today...

ReplyDeleteBriana-- change can be good or bad -- but our willingness to give up control is the true beauty of the situation, imho.
Maybe that means we're all caterpillars, in a way... we don't know what the outcome will be, but as we push ourselves and live the best caterpillar lives we possibly can, one day we will be surprised to discover that we've become butterflies!
ReplyDeleteI've seen a ton of butterflies too of all different colors. I think it just means we're going to have a lot of snow this winter ... never heard that before though. Just wishful thinking I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!! It's migration time for Monarchs! We live in a migration path, and usually have "flocks" of them passing through during September and October.

Angela -- I know about the monarch migration, but i don't think I ever remember them just being so in-your-face about it. I think it's absolutely wonderful that these delicate little bugs take epic journeys.

ReplyDeleteButterflies represent change huh. Profound change... I haven't noticed tons,but they have accompanied me on my walks from time to time. Don't they eat mosquitos? Probably not, that would be wishful thinking.

Good point... but you forgot to mention that butterflies are low calorie and medium-high in protein.

ReplyDeleteThere are a ton of butterflies around here too. My 2 year old is fascinated with them right now - and I've seen a lot of white moths...which I've never seen before.
